My Support

I am a very supportive person, however I feel like at home is where I have the most support.  Everything is expected of me and I get frustrated at times, my teenagers are really good at cleaning up they help me and make it easier for me.  My husband is also a part of my support system he is always their to pick up the slack when needed.

Factors that make support great for me comes from what is needed to be done and is difficult to be completed by one individual like myself.  I am a strong and healthy woman but doing it all would tear me down so it is important for my family to support me.

I think all the support I experience is good because my children sees it and they too can relate because I support them in anything they do, as far as school I give them the support they need and also I let them know education is number one but I also give them the support they need to succeed

My Connection to play

Quotes
“Play is the work of the child.” – Maria Montessori
“Play is the highest form of research.” – Albert Einstein

When I was a child I enjoyed play time in preschool.  I remember the teacher always

allowing me to play in whatever area I wanted to play in, it was the best part of my

day because I got to explore all the toys and I enjoyed playing with my friends.

Children use their bodies and voices to imitate or reproduce the actions and sounds around

them  a puppy crawling on all fours, laundry flapping in the wind, the whistle of a train, or a

baby crying. You can support this type of pretend play by in turn imitating what the children do.

For example, if a child “meows” and pretends to lap milk from a bowl on the floor, you can

“meow,” get down beside them and make lapping sounds and motions too. This type of support

allows the child to decide for themselves and enhance their thinking skills and this is imperative

in young children.

Relationship and Partnership.

Relationships are Important

People I love and share a positive relationship with.

Relationship is important to me Because it is the way we build and learn about

others.  I have many people that are important to me and each relationship is

different.  My children and I share a different kind of relationship.  My husband and I

have a very unique relationship.  My parents and students, we share a different kind

of relationship also.  Over all all of my relationships are positive and comes from the

heart.

I think partnership comes with the relationship I share wit my friends and co workers,

Having a great relationship also helps me learn from others and learn about others. I

can relate to this and think it is so accurate.  Your relationships with your fellow

teachers are likely to last far longer than any of your relationships with students.

Even though we spend the majority of our time, care, and attention on fostering

positive relationships with the students we see every day, it’s just as important that

we spend time relationship building with our co workers

Our co workers are our teammates, our partners, our collaborators, our biggest pains

and our biggest allies, working hard each day in their classrooms just like us.

Positive relationship building with these folks can make a world of difference when it

comes to improving our own practice and making our school a better, more effective

environment for our students, But often we take these relationships for granted. We

focus on our students, ignore others around us, and even allow negative perceptions

to infiltrate our way of thinking about others. But teaching can feel isolated enough

as it is – we don’t need to ostracize ourselves from those who are most likely to be

our biggest supporters and friends.Positive parent-school communications benefit

parents. The manner in which schools communicate and interact with parents affects

the extent and quality of parents' home involvement with their children's learning. For

example, schools that communicate bad news about student performance more often

than recognizing students' excellence will discourage parent involvement by making

parents feel they cannot effectively help their children.

Children quotes

"Adults are just outdated children."
  — Dr. Seuss

"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children."
  — Nelson Mandela, Former President of South Africa
"Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them."
  — Lady Bird Johnson, Former First Lady of the United States
These blogs are very important to me and I think that they speaks volumes.  The one that states the way we treat children is also important because they are little people who should have say so also.

Testing Children Intelligence

Every child learns differently and can show what they learned in different ways. I struggled with passing paper pencil tests in school. I knew the information but had a hard time showing it under stress. A good example is when I had to pass the praxis to get into the teacher education program. I knew I had a lot of good qualities that teachers displayed but since I could not pass the test I had to wait a semester to pass the test before I could get into the teaching program. Passing the test was the only way to get into the program. It took me 4 tries before I passed that test! Children should not be judged from a test, whether they should pass or fail. Children learn in other ways too. Some children learn kinesthetically, musically, visually, or linguistically. Children also learn by a combination of ways too. I learn best kinesthetically and musically. For some reason I can listen to a song two times and then pick up on the words right away. When assessing children we should look at testing them in multiple ways, not just paper pencil tests. Children that learn differently will have a fair chance to succeed just as much as children that take pencil paper tests well.
I think culture plays a very important part in the childhood development and how the child process information.

In New Zealand Children are assess using a type of portfolio the teachers take a sample of their work from different work areas and use it to do running records which would allow them to move up in different levels. Assessment occurs minute by minute as adults listen, watch, and interact with an individual child or with groups of children. These continuous observations provide the basis of information for more in-depth assessment and evaluation that is integral to making decisions on how best to meet children’s needs.
In-depth assessment requires adults to observe changes in children’s behaviour and learning and to link these to curriculum goals. Assessment contributes to evaluation, revision, and development of programs.
